“Short” by Holly Goldberg Sloan is an amazing book I recommend if you like a good, cozy story about life and the struggles people face. Before reading this book I had not heard of Holly Goldberg Sloan, but learned she is an American film director and the author of “Counting By 7’s.” I have not read this book yet, but have heard it’s pretty good. If you have read “The Thing About Georgie,” then you will like this book. I would rate this book at 5 stars and for kids at the ages of 9 and up. It is a really easy read that you can enjoy on a rainy day with a cup of tea!
“Short” is a book about a girl named Julia Marks who was born with dwarfism. Life is pretty normal for Julia. She has the same difficulties as anyone with dwarfism may have and just tries to stay happy wherever she goes. At the local theater, Julia and her brother Randy try out for the role of munchkins in a live production of The Wizard of Oz. Of course, they get the parts. During Julia’s adventure in the musical, she meets new friends, neighbours, and has experiences a few difficulties along the way. Join Julia in her munchkin adventure. I know you’ll want to cheer her on. Thanks!
