Why was 6 afraid of 7?
Counting by 7’s was a great book! It was very heartwarming; the kind of story that touched my heart. This book is written by Holly Goldberg Sloan. She has also written Short, Just Call My Name, and I’ll Be There. Go check her out if you are not familiar with her because she is amazing and an awesome author! I recommend Counting By 7’s to kids ages of 10 and up. This is a pretty easy read but keep in mind the main character, Willow, is a super genius who likes to use big words. Have a dictionary handy! I give this novel 5 very enthusiastic stars. It’s no wonder it won the Goodread's Best Middle Grade & Children’s Book!
Counting by 7’s is about a girl named Willow who lives in a small South Californian town and loves to garden. She has created a whole paradise in her backyard and tends to it everyday. Willow has been home-schooled her entire life and is definitely not ready when her adoptive parents decide to put her into a public middle school. One day, her smarts gets a head of her and a misunderstanding lands her in the counselor’s office. At her weekly meetings with the counselor she makes new friends and even learns Vietnamese! Suddenly, a crisis happens and Willow finds herself in a blur of confusion and chaos. She doesn’t know what to do but finds help from her best friend, Mai. Willow discovers she’s no longer a small (but smart), useless child. Now she is filled with happiness and love. Join Willow in this heartfelt novel by Holly Goldberg Sloan, Counting by 7’s.
Happy Saturday!

P.S. Because 7, 8, 9. (From the joke in the title. Get it? :)
