Find the Magic in the Dresses
Before I tell you guys about my book this week, I just want to say belated Happy Father’s all of those special fathers out there! For the past maybe 2 years, I have been going through the 100 Dresses: If the Magic Fits series. It had been a year or so since I read the last book, but recently I discovered the author, Susan Maupid Schmid, had released a 3rd book in this trilogy and I was super excited. After reading it and I was not surprised at all; Susan did an awesome job to wrap up this series with this book. If you are into art or fashion like I am then you will love this book. There are also some Victorian castle and magic components in this series, so if you are a fan of fantasy this would also be a good choice for you. I would say that this series would be good for kids ages 10 and up because it is engaging and really easy to read. Of course this is a 5 star book if you were wondering :). There are a few confusing words in these books such as clairvoyance and buffoon. I do wish that Susan Schmid would have explained those words a little more but with a dictionary on hand I think you will be fine.
The 100 Dresses trilogy is about an orphan named Darling Dimple that was taken in by a gardener to the castle in the kingdom of Eloria. She is soon turned into an Under-Scrubber, servants who scrub the pots and pans, and then turned into one of the Princesses Girls, the girls who iron, fold, and help the Wardrobe Mistress. The Princess of Eloria, Princess Mariposa has lots and lots of closets, each for different things. But one, holds 100 dresses. No one realizes these dresses are filled with magic except Darling. Everyone else just thinks it is a closet full of old dresses from Princess Mariposa’s grandmother who was queen many years before. Darling finally tries one on and is surprised when she enters the closet. With the princess’s magical canary, Lyric, the dresses seem to come alive. But when she looks in the mirror with one of the dresses on she is a completely different person. Racing around the castle in the 100 dresses, Darling and her friends (and her trusty mouse friend, Lago) solve mysteries and get in quite a bit of trouble when Princess Mariposa gets married. Join Darling Dimple on her fashion adventure and help her solve these royal mysteries. I know you will definitely enjoy this thrilling trilogy of magic (and dresses)!
