A Whole New World

I am very excited about this post because today I will be reviewing Disney’s new remake of Aladdin!!!! My grandma, mom and I went to see this in the theaters to enjoy the last day of summer vacation. Of course, the 2015 Cinderella is probably still my favorite remake, but this one was really, really, REALLY, well done. This remake of Aladdin was directed by Guy Ritchie. I know he hasn’t done any children’s movies but, man, this was one of a kind.

The cast of this movie includes Naomi Scott, Mena Massoud, Will Smith (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), Marwan Kanzari, Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen (Into the Woods), and Alan Tudyk (Frozen, Moana, Big Hero 6, and more). I wasn’t familiar with any of the cast except for Will Smith, but overall, everyone did a really outstanding job. Mena Massoud, who is actually Canadian, did a phenomenal job doing Aladdin. His singing was incredible and action scenes made his character look very agile. I mean, all his jumping and tricks and stuff were spot on (definitely things I could not do). Jasmine was great, very Jasmine-like, and everything was surprisingly just like the original animated film. The set was beautiful and everything looked real and there was only one new song! Will Smith played the Genie perfectly. He didn’t try to be Robin Williams, who voiced the genie in the first movie; he was just himself. I really suggest this movie to Disney lovers and families that enjoy some action and that little touch of magic in their movie nights!

Enjoy the show!

P.S. Aladdin might still be in the theatres so I really suggest seeing it on the big screen if you can but the DVD release date is September 10. Enjoy!

This movie is rated PG and the run time is forever, just kidding, 2hrs 9min!
