Blowing Bubbles is not what you think
This week I will be reviewing a book called Bubbles. The first thing about this book that caught my eye was the cover. On the cover of this book there is the face of this frizzy haired girl that has a big speech bubble floating above her head. I thought it was so comical and of course the title was Bubbles so I had to read it! :) The author of bubbles is Abby Cooper. If you are not familiar with her go check her out because her books are amazing. She also wrote Sticks and Stones and Friend or Fiction. This is a definite 5 star book and would be good for kids ages 9 - 13. I loved how this book was written and how the story was laid out. I loved the background story in the beginning of the book because if there is no background I am lost. As good as this book was the main character, Sophie Mulvaney, kind of annoyed me. You know how some characters just let stuff bother them or they could speak up for themselves but don’t and it just makes you mad? That’s kind of what Sophie did to me. In some parts of the book she could have told her friends what she was thinking. Overall, it was a great book and I would suggest it to anyone.
Bubbles is about a girl named Sophie Mulvaney whose life turns upside down whenever her mom loses her job at a TV station and breaks up with Pratik, whom Sophie loved. Her and her mom were adventurous girls, taking selfies every time they reached a floor on the stairs in her apartment building and going on 5k runs, but that all changed whenever she broke up with Pratik and lost her job. But, one night Sophie starts seeing speech bubbles over people’s heads saying what they are thinking. (I know that would be so cool) but for Sophie, it is wearing her out. She is so stressed out and whenever she reads her best friend Kaya’s speech bubble, she almost faints. One of her teachers challenges the class to do a risk project and Sophie is almost forced to do a triathlon due to a girl who seems to be stealing her best friends! Help Sohie solve this bubbly mystery and maybe, just maybe, make her mom happy again.
Thanks for Reading!
