Good morning everyone! I hope you all woke up with a smile on your face and you enjoyed a good cup of coffee (if you are of the right age, which I am not. Bleh!). This morning I will be reviewing the Truman Nominee and Cartwheel Award Winner novel, Click’d. This novel is by Tamara Ireland Stone, who originally worked for Apple. Who knew!?! Click’d is full of technology, gaming, and shows what real friendship is like. I felt like this book shows readers and myself what middle school kids are like today. It addresses how much teens are glued to their phones and how addicted they can be. It also teaches a great lesson that whatever you post on the internet, stays on the internet. A+ on good messages but this was definitely not the best book I have ever read. The writing was a little dry and the dialogue sounded very mature. Click’d was supposed to be placed in a middle school but the characters speak like they were in high school. I would rate this book 3 stars and say it is appropriate for all ages. It was a pretty easy read and I finished in only a couple of days.

Click’d is about a girl named Allie Navarro who has a passion for coding and technology. She creates a friending app called Click’d while attending CodeGirls, a coding summer camp. Click’d was a huge hit at camp and Allie is selected to participate in the Games for Good competition. Encouraged by her teacher, she decides to launch Click’d to a small group of users. With the help of her friends, aka the “street team”, Allie is quickly the coolest girl in school. Everyday her app is getting hundreds of more users and soon the whole school is “clicking” with each other. Unfortunately, Allie soon discovers a glitch with her app and has no choice but to shut it down. This leaves everything and everyone in chaos. She is forced to seek help from her Games for Good competitor, nerdy Nate, who is busy creating his own app called Built. Will Allie fix Click’d in time? Will her street team stick by her ? Can you trust a game to pick your friends? I’ll let you decide...

Happy Reading!

P.S. Also if you do end up reading Click’d, there is a sequel called Swap’d! Have fun!!!
