Friendship is Magic

The book I will be reviewing this week is called The Girls of Firefly Cabin by Cynthia Ellingsen. I saw this on the new reads bookshelf at my public library and thought I would give it a try. I was so surprised at how good this book was. Aside from Coyote Sunrise by Dan Gemeinhart and Renegades by Marissa Meyers, this was the best read of the year. The story made my heart melt. The friendships and companions that are made throughout this book really tied everything together. I really suggest this book to... everyone! This was a really easy read and recommended for anyone ages 10 and up. Do you ever have those books where you cannot stop reading? Well, this was one of those books. You just get so engulfed into the book you realize the next day that you are almost finished with it! Oh, the magic of books. I wish we had a fireplace because this book would have been great to snuggle up next to the fire with a blanket and a cup of tea or hot chocolate. Mmmmmmm. That sounds really good right now because where I live it’s freezing outside. :( As you can probably tell this novel is an unmistakable 5 stars. If you love a feel good novel, then this is perfect for you!

The Girls of Firefly Cabin starts with Lauren. She lives in a group foster home and is used to waking up early to help in the kitchens. She submits an essay to the Blueberry Pine Summer Camp in hopes that she can have a summer to remember. Isla, a girl who wears designer silk shirts and swimsuits is anxious about her first summer at Blueberry Pine. She meets Jordan, a boy staying at the all-boys camp across the lake and life just can’t get any sweeter. Jade isn’t so sure about wanting to make new friends… and Archer has her own story to tell. She is the exact opposite of Isla. Her hair is jet black with blue and pink stripes and she walks around in her black combat boots. As these four girls make memories together, they discover that there is true magic in Firefly Cabin.

Happy Reading,

Evelyn Harrier
