You've Been Framed!
What does Sherlock Holmes ask when he’s bored? Watson TV!?! Ha, what a great joke (that was really, really cringey, I’m sorry). Today's review is going to be on the mystery series, Framed! I came across this book in my local library and thought I would give it a try. Framed! is part of a mystery series, which, until about 5 minutes ago, I didn’t know existed. So I will definitely be searching for the rest of the series whenever I finish my next book. The author of Framed! is James Ponti. In addition to writing novels based off of Disney and Disney Channel movies, James is known for his Dead City mystery series and his newest series City Spies. This book was the best mystery book I have read in a long time. I was immediately pulled in! The plot line was like no other mystery novel I have ever read. It's no wonder it won the 2017 Edgar Allan Poe Award! And I’m rating this at a 5 star mystery. I think any kid at any age would be able to read it but I suggest readers ages 8-13. If you enjoy mystery novels, cracking codes, and art museums you’ll love Framed!
Framed! is about a 12 year-old boy named Florian Bates. His parents both work at art museums around the world but when they get stationed in Washington D.C., Florian is in for a real treat. In the 12 years that he has been alive, Florian has developed a theory called T.O.A.S.T, which stands for the Theory of All Small Things. Florian can tell you where you live, what you ate for breakfast, and what kind of dog you have in just a matter of minutes without even knowing the person. When Florian and Margret, a neighbor across the street, hear expensive paintings have gone missing from the National Gallery, they both know something is not right. Florian’s dad, being the head of security at the mueseum, allows Florian to join him and the FBI on the investigation. The FBI agents are blown away by Florian’s ability to find things out so quickly with his T.O.A.S.T. method and recruit him as a part-time FBI agent. That’s right. FBI Agent Florian Bates. Help Florian and Margaret solve this case, manage homework, save the world, and avoid being captured by the Russians.
Happy reading,
