The Last or the First?

Good morning fellow readers! I apologize for not posting any reviews last week. I had a terrible cold and was not feeling up to writing a new post. But, today we have a very special post as it is by the glorious author, Katherine Applegate! She is one of my favorite authors of all times and I have reviewed several of her books in past posts. If you want to check them out, I will link them at the bottom of the page. Today's post is going to be on her newest series, Endling. Endling is a series of two books, Endling the Last, and Endling the First. I know the titles don’t make sense. The Last is the first book and The First is the last book. Crazy, right? Well, once you read these amazing novels, you will understand why. As you can probably tell from all of my praise that this is a 5 star book. However, I do feel that I am leaning more towards 4.8 stars because I did feel that sometimes the books dragged on. Especially in the second one and I feel like there could have been a lot less words and conversation in some particular parts. Overall, this was a great read and I suggest it to anyone ages 9-12. If you enjoy make-believe fantasy worlds with talking animals and mysterious creatures I suggest you check these books out!

Endling is about a dog-like animal called a dairne. This small runt’s name is Byx. Her family has been poached and taken away. She is the very last of her species and has no clue where to go next. When she meets a young girl named Kara and a rodent type creature named Tobble, she can only sense that they are in for a long adventure. Making their way to an island of scholars, Kara is determined to help save Byx from the dangers of the world. Though faced with many betrayals and befriendings can Byx, Kara, and Tobble find more dairnes or is Byx truly the last one? Read Endling: The Last to find out!
