Something To Remember
Today I will be reviewing the well known, historical nonfiction diary, The Diary of a Young Girl, by Anne Frank. If you do not know who Anne Frank is, she was a Jewish girl who went into hiding with her family during the height of World War 2. During her stay in hiding, she kept a diary, where she wrote letters and entries to her imaginary friend, Kitty. Her diary was the only place she could write down her feeling and emotions. Sadly, in the end, the Nazi’s found the hiding spot and both, Frank and Van Daan families were arrested. The only survivor out of the eight stowaway’s was Otto Frank, Anne’s father. Otto took Anne’s diary and turned it into a spectacular book called The Diary of a Young Girl, which I am reviewing today! Anne Frank was a very sophisticated writer, even though she was just thirteen years old. It was a shame that her life had to be taken because she would have grown up to be a fantastic journalist and author. One aspect that I truly admire about Anne’s writing, is that she wrote about her life in the Secret Annex (the Secret Annex was their hiding spot), her feelings, and specific important events, not just what happened to her day by day. I would recommend this novel, even if you aren’t into historical or nonfiction books. When you read The Diary of a young Girl, it shows you Anne’s point of view and her side of the challenges they had to face. I wold rate this book at a full 5 stars and recommend it for kids at the age of 13 and up. The only reason I suggest this for teenagers, is because Anne’s writing is very mature and some of the topics would be difficult for younger readers to understand. Other than that, I absolutely loved this book. It was an amazing read that caught my attention from the start.
I hope you all can read Anne Frank’s, The Diary of a Young Girl. It is an eye-opening story that gives you more depth into what it was like in a time of war.
Happy reading,
