A Trip to Paris

I want to start of the year strong with one of my all-time favorite novels, Nemesis and the Swan. This book is the perfect blend of mystery, historical fiction, action, and just a little bit of romance. As of 2020, Nemesis and the Swan was a new book by a new author. Lindsay K. Bandy did such a wonderful job crafting each and every piece of this story. Nemesis and the Swan takes place at the beginning of the French Revolutionary War and follows a young aristocrat in the middle of Paris. This being said, I found it very interesting how the author included various French words and objects. Some of them I even had to look up! I don’t have enough words to explain how good this book was! I would rate Nemesis and the Swan at a billion stars if I could and would suggest this read to kids at the age of 13 and up. Nemesis and the Swan was a fresh and interesting read that I would recommend for all history lovers.

As I mentioned before, Nemesis and the Swan takes place at the beginning of the French Revolution. This story follows a young aristocrat named Helene. Her mother is insistent that she attend galas and wear fancy jewels, but Helene doesn’t want that life. Her heart is set on running away to America with the jeweler’s apprentice but her parents have other plans for Helene. As protesting and violence in Paris escalates, Helene and her unbearable family are forced to move to the German countryside. Through triumph, heartbreak, and forgiveness, Lindsay K. Bandy takes you on a historic adventure through France. Please go check out Nemesis and the Swan and give the new author, Lindsay K. Bandy some praise!

Happy reading,

Evelyn Harrier
